ALLAGASH – Michael Lee Hafford, 59, died unexpectedly March 16, 2010, at his residence. He was born May 24, 1950, in Allagash, son of Lee and Faye (O’Leary) Hafford. Mike attended Brunswick High School his freshman and sophomore years, then attending Limestone High School his junior and senior year, graduating in 1968. He received his Associate of Arts degree in forestry from the University of Maine at Fort Kent. Mike retired from the Maine Army National Guard in 2005. He was a first sergeant in Charlie Company, 1-152 Field Artillery for 35 years. He was a recipient of the distinguished military honor graduate award of which he was very proud. He belonged to American Legion Jandreau Connors Post No. 180 of St. Francis and Allagash Historical Society. He was an avid outdoorsman, enjoyed reading, crossword puzzles and ATV riding, but most of all, time with his family. He will be dearly missed by his family and friends. He is survived by his wife of 37 years, Vicki (McBreairty) Hafford of Allagash; his son, Dean Hafford of Portland; his daughter, Brooke and her husband, Logan McDonald, of Bangor; his mother, Faye Hafford of Allagash; one sister, Randi and her husband, Bryan Jandreau, of Fort Kent; his close uncle, Elmer “Hemmie” Hafford of Allagash; several nieces, nephews and cousins. He was predeceased by his father, Lee Hafford, in 1993. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m.-noon Saturday at Daigle & Nadeau Funeral Home, Fort Kent. Funeral services will be held 1 p.m. Saturday at Allagash Community Center. Committal services with full military honors will be held afterward at Allagash Municipal Cemetery.
