LUBEC – Lewis R. Wilcox, 77, passed away unexpectedly March 18, 2010, at a Bangor hospital after a brief illness. He was born Jan. 5, 1933, in Lubec, son of Leslie and Annie (Tinker) Wilcox. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning to Lubec he worked most of his life as a carpenter. He enjoyed woodcrafts and was a life member of the Handyman Association. He was also a member of American Legion Stuart-Green Post No. 65, Lubec. He loved spending time with his grandchildren at the homestead picnicking and berry picking. He was predeceased by his wife, Dee; three brothers and three sisters. He is survived by a son, Frank Wilcox and wife, Robin, of Connecticut; a daughter, Vicki Huckins and husband, Dennis, of Lubec; a brother, Leslie Wilcox and wife, Jane, of Connecticut; two sisters, Amy Dennison of Lubec and Marjorie Lavin and husband, John, of Connecticut; five grandchildren, Dee-Nella, Joseph, Tiffany, Crystal and Matthew; eight great-grandchildren; his “Suzy-Q”; several, nieces, nephews and cousins. Memorial services with full military honors will be held 2 p.m. Saturday, April 10, at Lubec American Legion with Pastor Gary Look officiating. Arrangements are in care of McClure Family Funeral Services, Machias and Lubec.
