GREENVILLE – Wayne E. Beckwith, 60, husband of Pam (Inman) Beckwith, passed away March 20, 2010, at a Bangor hospital, after suffering a severe stroke. He was born March 26, 1949, in Farmington, the son of Bernard E. and Janet (Carignan) Beckwith. He graduated from Greenville High School, Class of 1967, and the University of Maine at Portland-Gorham, Class of 1971, where he was a member of Delta Chi Fraternity. Wayne taught in South Portland schools and later became a building contractor. He was a gifted craftsman and built many homes in the Moosehead Lake area. In his later years, he was a representative and contractor for Real Log Homes. Wayne served his community as a Boy Scout leader and as a member of Kiwanis. He was a past member of Shirley Fire Department and Greenville School Committee, and had enjoyed participating in the Valley Forge Jamboree. Wayne is survived by his beloved wife, Pam; his daughter, Sherri and son-in-law, Shawn Lapointe; Pam’s son, David; his parents, Bernard and Janet Beckwith; a brother, Norman G. and wife, Geneva Beckwith; two sisters, Carol and husband, Bruce McBrierty, and Jeannette and husband, David Morrill, who was a long time special friend of Wayne’s; many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and cousins. He will be remembered by special friends, Dan Williams, Stuart Watt, and Mike and Amy Knowlton. Wayne was predeceased by a daughter, Dianna Marie Beckwith; a son, Mark D. Beckwith; a brother, Nester Terry Beckwith; paternal grandparents, Norman E. and Reine Beckwith; and maternal grandparents, Nester and Hazel Carignan. Friends are invited to call 6-8 p.m. Friday, March 26, at Lary Funeral Home, Dover-Foxcroft. A memorial Mass of Christian burial will be conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, March 27, at Holy Family Catholic Church, Greenville, with the Rev. Richard Malo, celebrant. All are invited to join the family for fellowship and sharing at the church hall after the service. Burial will be later in the spring at Greenville Cemetery.
