TROY, N.Y. – Elizabeth “Betty” Brundage, 90, peacefully entered into the arms of our Lord March 17, 2010, at Samaritan Hospital. She was born in Troy, N.Y., daughter of the late Edward and Anna (Coyle) Boushea. Betty lived her entire life in Troy, N.Y. She was educated in the Troy School System and was a member of Sacred Heart Parish, Troy, N.Y. She retired from Sacred Heart Church after years of caring for the altar linens, a job she took great pride in. Betty began her work at the shirt factory in Troy, N.Y., and was a member of the Nurses Aide Corps for the Red Cross during World War II. After raising her two oldest children, she returned to the work force – first in the ladies department at Topps Department Store and later for Sacred Heart Church. She was a member of the Altar Rosary Society at Sacred Heart up until her health prevented her from attending. Betty married Charles A. Brundage, Feb. 2, 1942. They were married 47 years at the time of his death in 1989. In addition to her parents and husband, she was predeceased by her granddaughter, Wendy Brundage; her sister and brother-in-law, Sarah and Walter Stark; her brother and sister-in-law, Edward and Bernadine Boushea; her niece, Theresa and Harry Brundage; and nephew, Walter Stark. Betty is survived by her loving children and their families, Chief Warrant Officer 4 Edward C., U.S. Army, retired, and his wife, Leslie, of Eddington, MaryLee Nichols of Troy, N.Y., Beth Ann Berry of Lake George, N.Y., and Donald and his wife, Laura, of Saratoga Springs, N.Y.; her grandchildren, Robin Lynn and Shawn Mayhew of Brewer, Steven and Diana Grogan of Averill Park, N.Y., Jamie Lee Brundage and her fiance, Shawn O’Brien, of Cohoes, N.Y., Casey Lynn Brundage of Watervliet, N.Y., Jason and Michael Berry of Lake George, N.Y., Ashley Parker and Michael Parker of Eddington, Michelle and Paul Clements of Newburgh and Joseph and Breaian Locke of Bangor; 13 great-grandchildren, Gary James, Sharalyn, Caleb and Clara of Eddington, Ari’yanna, Autumn, Adien and William of Averill Park, N.Y., Kody and Riley of Cohoes, N.Y., Paul Jr. and Taylor of Newburgh and Gaberial of Bangor. She is also survived by her nephews, niece, cousins and their families. The family thanks Georgia Russell who was caring for Betty, as well as Troy (N.Y.) firefighters and paramedics who responded, the staff of the emergency room and fourth floor PCU at Samaritan Hospital, as well as Linda Rinella and her staff for all they have done. Friends and family may call 4-8 p.m. Friday at Daniel D. Purcell Funeral Home, 510 Pawling Ave., Troy, N.Y. A Mass will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Saturday at Sacred Heart Church. Interment will be at St. Peter’s Cemetery, Oakwood Avenue, Troy, N.Y. Pall bearers will be Charles Stark, Steven Grogan, Michael Berry, Jason Berry, Shawn O’Brien and Harold Felt. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations in Betty’s name to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Center for Disabilities Services Foundation or the Children’s Hospital at Albany Medical Center Foundation.
