CARIBOU – Gertrude May Shorey, 90, wife of the late Gordon Shorey, went home to be with her Lord and Savior, March 23, 2010, at Eagle Lake. She was born Nov. 16, 1919, in Castle Hill, daughter of Frank and Ellen (Gardner) Cray. Gertrude was a loving and devoted wife and mother to her family. She was a member of Caribou Assembly of God Church. She is survived by a son, Calvin Shorey and his wife, Cheryldene “Deanie,” of Woodland; two daughters, Betty Shorey of Eagle Lake and Joyce Petriw and her husband, Michael, of Vero Beach, Fla.; 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by two sons, Wayne and Dale Shorey; three brothers, David, Robert and Beverley Cray; and three sisters, Florence Beem, Doris Farley and Edith True. The family sends a special thanks to the staff at Mercy Home, Eagle Lake, for the fine care and comfort given to their mother. Graveside services will be held in the spring at South Side Cemetery, Mapleton, and will be announced at a later date in the Bangor Daily News by Mockler Funeral Home, Caribou.
