The Tea Party movement seems to have coalesced the anti-Obama, anti-Democratic
sentiment around the country. Is the movement’s rhetoric about the loss of constitutional
freedoms and the government take-over of the economy an exaggeration of the
Democrats’ agenda? Is the movement merely the extreme right wing of the Republican
Party under a new banner? Or are Tea Party adherents true patriots who are calling
attention to an unprecedented change in the role of the federal government?
Will Republican candidates be able to harness the Tea Party movement to win election in
congressional races and the governor’s race in November? Or is the Tea Party out of step
with most mainstream voters? Is the Tea Party preaching to the choir, or is it rallying
moderates and independents?
