FORT FAIRFIELD – Sheila A. Pelkey, 63, passed away Friday evening, April 2, 2010, at a Houlton health care facility, after an extended illness. She was born Feb. 13, 1947, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Walter S. and Mary Louise (Brayson) Pelkey. She attended Fort Fairfield schools and had been employed in the potato processing industry for many years by several area businesses, including Potato Service Inc., Presque Isle, where she worked for more than 15 years. Sheila was a proud member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Ladies Auxiliary, Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Fort Fairfield, and had volunteered her time to Head Start preschool for many years. She will be remembered by all who knew her as an avid bingo player. In addition to her parents, Sheila was predeceased by one brother, Richard Pelkey. She is survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert and Joan Pelkey of Howland and Franklin and Margaret Pelkey of Presque Isle; two sisters and brothers-in-law, Barbara and Lauria “Pee Wee” Lagasse of New York state and Sally and Louis Hanson of Fort Fairfield; several nieces and nephews. Friends may call noon-1 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield, where a memorial service will be conducted 1 p.m. with the Rev. Mark Babin officiating. Interment will take place at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield, later in the spring. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held at immediately after the memorial service VFW Paul Lockhart Post No. 6187, Presque Isle Street, Fort Fairfield.
