BERNARD – Ruth (Adams) Shepherd, 86, died April 5, 2010, at Mount Desert Island Hospital. She was born April 22, 1923, in Harve de Grace, Md., the daughter of Arthur and Hannah (Shelley) Adams. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. Ruth was an avid reader. She grew up in Fairfield, Conn., with her late sister, Jeanne Murray. Ruth and Jeanne were very active in their community. Both she and her husband, Richard, were members of Episcopal Marriage Encounter Team for more than 25 years. Ruth is survived by her caring husband of 56 years, Father Richard G. Shepherd of Bernard; one son, Christopher Shepherd and wife, Kathleen, of Troy, N.Y.; one daughter, Alexandra Shepherd of Albany, N.Y.; two grandchildren, Ashley and Courtney Shepherd; and a great-granddaughter, Zoe Elizabeth Shepherd-Jackson. A resurrection Eucharist will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, April 10, at St. Saviour’s Episcopal Church, Bar Harbor, with Father Jonathan Appleyard officiating.
