ORRINGTON – R. Trevett Hooper, 70, passed away peacefully April 8, 2010, at his home. The world has lost a good man. Trevett graduated from Mount Desert High School where he played basketball for his mentor and friend, Bunny Parady. He served his country in the U.S. Marines and U.S. Army. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of New Hampshire and a master’s degree from Husson College. He was a teacher in Portsmouth, N.H., and at Center Drive School, Orrington, before becoming a real estate agent and then a real estate appraiser. Trevett’s interests included golf, woodworking, gardening, sketching and spending time with his family. He leaves behind a family that inherited – and carries on – his positive energy, kindness and zest for life. He is survived by his wife, Heidi Hooper; a daughter, Jennifer Moore and her husband, Rick; and a son, Trevett “Tad” Hooper and his wife, Sarah. He dearly loved his four grandchildren, Emma and Clara Moore of Bangor, Clementine and Samuel Trevett Hooper of Pittsburgh. He leaves behind two brothers, James Hooper and his wife, Laurie, of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Larry Hooper and his wife, Joanne, of New York City; a sister, Diane James and her husband, Cary, of Orono; several nieces and nephews. Trevett will be missed by many friends, particularly his longtime basketball buddies from Mount Desert High School. Trevett was predeceased by his mother, Mary Hooper Norwood of Northeast Harbor. The family extends special thanks to Angel Flight pilots and Hospice of Eastern Maine. Visiting hours will be 4-6 p.m. April 10 at Greenlawn Funeral Home, 300 State St., Bangor. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 11, at Union Church of Northeast Harbor. Donations in memory of R. Trevett Hooper may be made to the Salvation Army.
