FORT FAIRFIELD – Barbara S. Burtchell, 84, wife of the late Wilton H. Burtchell, passed away Friday afternoon, April 16, 2010, at a Caribou health care facility, after a brief illness. She was born March 28, 1926, in Fort Fairfield, the daughter of Mungo P. and Anna P. (Nightingale) Stewart. Barbara was a graduate of Fort Fairfield High School and married Wilton H. Burtchell, July 11, 1946. Mrs. Burtchell was a dedicated member of Fort Fairfield Community Wesleyan Church and enjoyed cooking for everyone she knew. She will be remembered by her family as a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Burtchell was predeceased by her husband, Wilton H. Burtchell, March 25, 1993. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Stuart D. and Janet Burtchell of Fort Fairfield; one daughter, Sandra L. Burtchell of Fort Fairfield; two sisters, Lois Ward of Fort Fairfield and Roma Thompson of Holly Hill, Fla.; three grandchildren, Kevin Foresman and his wife, Kathy, Kurt Foresman and his wife, Vicky, all of Fort Fairfield and Keith Foresman and his wife, Tricia, of Hampden; nine great-grandchildren, several nieces and nephews. She will also be fondly remembered by a special cousin, Phyllis Shaw; special neighbors, Wayne and Jackie Bubar; and her loving and caring church family. Friends may call 7-9 p.m. Monday, April 19, at Giberson-Dorsey Funeral Home, 144 Main St., Fort Fairfield. The funeral service will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 20, at Fort Fairfield Community Wesleyan Church, 9 Wesleyan St., Fort Fairfield, with Pastor Dee Lower officiating. Interment will be held after the service at Riverside Cemetery, Fort Fairfield. A time of continued fellowship with refreshments will be held immediately after the interment in the church reception area.
