BANGOR and HAINES CITY, Fla. – James M. Pipes, 81, passed away April 20, 2010, at his residence in Haines City, Fla., due to COPD. He was born Dec. 17, 1928, in Corinna, to Millard and Ruby Hovey Pipes, and had been wintering in Haines City, Fla., for 10 years. James was a financial consultant having worked for several companies. He was a Christian and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving post World War II. He was president of the Lion’s Club and Country Club in Presque Isle, and he was active in the Republican Party. James was predeceased by his parents; wife, Lois Pipes; and brother, Robert Pipes. He is survived by his sons, Andrew Pipes of Maine and Barton Pipes of New York; six grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. A memorial service will be held in Maine at a later date.
