BANGOR – John Olai Hansen, 55, passed away April 23, 2010, surrounded by his loving family at a Bangor hospital. John was born June 7, 1954, in Bangor, son of the late Edward and Mary (Palmer) Hansen. John was a 1972 graduate of Bangor High School. He then served his country in the Army and Army Reserves before working at the University of Maine in their facilities management department for nearly 30 years. He was an avid motorcyclist and a longtime member of United Bikers of Maine. He enjoyed participating in the Toy Run and many other events the club had to offer. John was very active in volunteering with Habitat for Humanity building many houses in the area. John is survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Kathy (Bischoff) Hansen of Bangor; his loving children, Holly Hansen of New Jersey, Adam Hansen and wife, Shawna, of Bangor and Tracy Hansen of Bangor; his siblings, Hildur Hansen of Palm Springs, Fla., and Michael Hansen of Buffalo, N.Y.; four grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, and many close friends, too numerous to mention. Family and friends may visit 6-8 p.m. Monday, April 26, at Kiley and Foley Funeral Service, 299 Union St., Bangor. Private interment will be at Pine Grove Cemetery, Bangor.
