CHERRYFIELD and GOULDSBORO – Earle W. Newenham, 87, passed away Saturday, April 24, 2010, at an Ellsworth health care facility. He was born Aug. 22, 1922, in Cherryfield, a son of the late Onslow and Ethel (Farren) Newenham. Earle graduated from Cherryfield Academy in 1939. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Biloxi during World War II. He worked many years at H.G. Tucker & Son, Cherryfield, and for the U.S. Naval Security Group Activity, Winter Harbor. Earle was a member of American Legion Post No. 0008, Cherryfield, as well as First Baptist Church, Cherryfield. Earle was known to be a resourceful man and was always able to repair whatever was needed. He enjoyed gardening and stacking wood. Earle was predeceased by his first wife, Alberta (Sawyer) Newenham; his two sisters, Mildred Newenham and Phyllis Morse; and his brother, Merrill Newenham. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, Eva (Briggs) Newenham of Gouldsboro; his children, Amos Kelley of Gouldsboro, Wayne Newenham of Gouldsboro and Lucille (Kelley) Null and her husband, Bill, of Gouldsboro; two grandchildren, Kelli Mitchell and husband, David, of Ellsworth and Nicholas Newenham of Ells-worth; and four great-grandchildren, Maddie, Cooper, Tyler and Lidia. Earle also leaves behind many cousins and extended family members. Family and friends may call 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, April 27, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 47 Main St., Milbridge. A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Wednesday, April 28, at First Baptist Church, 39 Main St., Cherryfield, with Pastor Max Merrill officiating.
