Friends of the Orono Public Library will hold its annual meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 29, in the OPL Community Room.

“We will discuss library budget requests, make plans for the year’s activities and elect a treasurer,” Judy Sucec said.

Then, Sucec added, “at 7 p.m., the public and [Friends] members are invited for refreshments and a BOOK BLITZ.”

Sucec said that for people who “like to read, want to read something new, wonderful [and] different” but are “too busy to read reviews,” will join others of the same ilk “to trade recommendations.”

“Here’s how it works,” Sucec continued.

BOOK BLITZ attendees should “bring the title and author’s name of three books, or the books themselves.”

The Friends suggest you choose “an all-time favorite, one you’re reading now and love [or] one you plan to read some day.”

The attendees will then “break up into small groups to talk about choices,” and “each group will recommend three books” to those in attendance.

The final list of the recommended books will then be e-mailed to those who attended.

“We’d love to have you join us to share your selections,” Sucec wrote.
