DEXTER – Seretha A. Sevey, 81, died April 29, 2010, surrounded by family at her home. She was born Dec. 28, 1928, in Dexter, the daughter of Charles Ernest and Dorrine Lillian (Jones) Sevey. Seretha attended school in Ripley and Dexter. She worked at Snowflake Cannery, Corinna, and many years at Dexter Shoe, retiring in 1988. Seretha was known for her kindness and generosity toward others. She loved to go berry picking and give them all away to friends and family. She also enjoyed scratching lottery tickets and socializing with her many friends at the local stores, always remembering to give out candy. She was predeceased by her parents, Charles and Dorrine Sevey; sisters, Shirley Philbrick, Mary S. Chabot and Evelyn Chapman; twin brother and sister, Charles and Charlene Sevey; and her unnamed twin brother. Surviving are her two sisters, Virginia Huff and Ethelyn Mountain and her husband, Lane Mountain, all of Dexter; a longtime dear friend, Judith Mountain; many beloved nieces and nephews, Charles Philbrick, Roger Chabot, Cherie Williams, Patricia Ulrich, Paula Nelson, Joey Mountain, James Chapman, Jeff Mountain, Galen Chapman, Seretha Kirchdorfer, Jay Mountain and their families; great-nieces and great-nephews. At her request, graveside services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, May 3, at Ferndale Cemetery, Ripley, with Pastor A. Maurice Neal officiating. After the service, family and friends are invited to a celebration of her life at Cherie Williams’ house, 90 Park St., Dexter.
