Once again, musicians of John Bapst Memorial High School will honor American troops and veterans during their annual Spring Concert, reports Lynn Doughty.

The students are presenting two performances, at 1 p.m. and at 6 p.m. Sunday, May 16, in the JBMHS auditorium at 100 Broadway in Bangor.

Tickets are $3 and are available between 7:30 a.m. and 2 p.m. now through Friday, May 14, in the Fine Arts Office at JBMHS.

Tickets also will be available at the door one hour before each performance.

Doughty wrote that the Concert Choir will sing a medley of American tunes. The Chamber Ensemble and 2010 State Champion Jazz Band also will perform. The Concert Band’s program will include the “Armed Forces Salute” and the concert will end with our American Fourth of July favorite, Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture.”

Bill Rae and the staff of Manna Ministries remind area gardeners that each spring Manna plants a garden in front of its 629 Main St., facility in Bangor.

Planted by Manna residents, the garden enables them to enjoy “fresh produce for the entire summer,” Rae said.

To help make this garden grow, donations of seedlings and seeds are needed to plant a plentiful supply of corn, cucumbers, zucchini, radishes, tomatoes, onions, pole beans, sunflowers, squash and peas.

Your donations may be dropped off anytime at Manna.

For information, call 990-2870.
