At Mansfield, Conn., Zach Fernandes homered, singled and drove in five runs as No. 6 University of Southern Maine of Gorham eliminated second-seeded Keene State College from the Little East Conference tournament.
The Huskies will play top-seeded Eastern Connecticut State University today at 11 a.m. with the winner advancing to play No. 4 UMass Boston at 2:15 p.m.
David Ricker homered and doubled with two runs scored for Southern Maine. Anthony Pisani and Roberto Valenti each had a double, two singles and two RBIs. Mike Eaton tal-lied two singles, two RBIs and two runs.
Keith Patnode homered, double and singled with two RBIs for Keene State. Bobby Doyon singled and knocked in two runs.

Bowdoin 14, Husson 2

At Wellesley, Mass. Amy Hackett of Bangor slugged two home runs and drove in seven runs as Bowdoin College defeated Husson University 14-2 on Friday to eliminate the Eagles from the NCAA Division III softball tournament.
No. 8 Husson ends its season with a 28-15 record, while No. 4 Bowdoin (34-13) will face the loser of Friday’s game between Coast Guard and Brandeis in an elimination game at noon Saturday.
Hackett, a second baseman who hit fifth in the Bowdoin lineup, hit a two-run home run to center field in the top of the third inning, then added a grand slam in the seventh inning.
The sophomore also had an RBI double in the sixth inning.
Hackett’s RBI total for the game tied the Bowdoin single-game record and was just one s
hy of the NCAA tournament record.
Julia Jacobs (12-6) earned the pitching victory, scattering 12 hits while allowing just two runs during a complete-game effort.
Megan Richard paced Husson offensively with a double, two singles and an RBI, while Courtney Hill, Cassie Berry, Nicole Sargent and Diann Ramsey each added two singles.
Sargent (10-6) took the loss, allowing five hits and five runs in 2ª innings of work.
