SOUTHWEST HARBOR – Trudy Schmidt, 92, formerly of Hampden and Acton, Mass., died May 15, 2010, at her daughter’s home in Southwest Harbor. She was born Dec. 13, 1917, on Great Cranberry Island, the daughter of Harvey and Jennie Stanley. She is survived by daughters, Jeannie Schmidt and her partner, Kathe McDonald, of Southwest Harbor and Lisa Schmidt and her husband, Albert Ruff, of Chelmsford, Mass.; sons, Kenneth Schmidt of Hampden and Rob Schmidt and wife, Paula, of Harvard, Mass.; as well as grandchildren, Melissa, Jenny, Julie, Marcia, Jonathan and Annie; and great-grandchildren, Sam, Joe, Richard, Sophia and Amara. She leaves many dear friends and family in Massachusetts and Maine, including those from Crazy Eights, Avalon Village and PEO; and a special dear sister-in-law, Dottie. She was predeceased by her husband of 54 years, Alvin Schmidt. She was the “Energizer Bunny” of her family who loved her deeply. A private service for family and friends will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, May 22, at Manor House, Avalon Village, Hampden.
