Among the many activities that are part of the fourth annual Senior Connections Expo and DASH Fair from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday, May 21, at Spectacular Event Center, 395 Griffin Road in Bangor, will be the presentation of the fourth annual Eastern Area Agency on Aging George Hale Silver Frame Awards.

Carol Higgins Taylor of EAAA explained this free event will feature more than 70 exhibitors “displaying everything from home health services to bus tours.”

You can also bring expired and unnecessary drugs to leave in the drug drop-off box for proper disposal; take advantage of several health screenings; and, at noon, learn the identities of nine Silver Frame Award winners.

The event is co-presented by EAAA and Penquis, and sponsored by Martin’s Point Health Care.

Hammond Street Senior Center is offering a Healthy Eating = Healthy Aging Workshop-Lunch Series of six sessions “covering different aspects of how gardening and food preparation can be easy, relaxing and contribute to a long and healthy life,” explained Deanna Partridge of the senior center.

The series begins at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 20, at the center, 2 Hammond St., Bangor. The fee, including lunch, is $12 for each workshop.

You can attend one or all of the workshops but, to participate, you must be at least 60 or 55 “and partnered with a member who is at least 60,” Partridge explained.

Bucksport Bay Area Chamber of Commerce presents Chuck Hall, described as “Maine’s premiere Elvis Impersonator,” performing “The King’s” greatest hits from the ’60s and ’70s at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 20, at the Alamo Theatre, 85 Main St.

Admission is $7 for adults, $5 for seniors and $3 for children 12 and under, reports Kathy Zeman of the Chamber.

All proceeds from the concert will “go to support this year’s Bucksport Bay Festival,” Zeman added.

Cheryl Murphy of Murph’s Maineiacs will be participating in her sixth Susan G. Komen for the Cure 3-day walk July 23-25 in Boston and is hosting a yard sale to help raise the entry fee for that event.

Murphy and her co-participant, Michelle Cole, are hosting a Yard Sale, 8 a.m.-3 p.m. both days, Friday, May 21, and Saturday, May 22, at Stor-More, 2293 Union St., Bangor.

In order to be part of this event, each walker must raise a minimum of $2,300. Proceeds from the national 3-day events benefit breast cancer research.
