INDIAN ISLAND, Maine — Penobscot Indian Nation police are investigating a shooting early Tuesday morning that sent an unidentified person to a local hospital.

Tribal police and police from nearby Old Town were sent to an Indian Island residence about 1:05 a.m. after emergency dispatchers received a 911 call from a residence regarding a person with a gunshot wound, Police Chief Robert Bryant said Tuesday.

Bryant said that the victim, whose name and age were withheld Tuesday, was taken to a local hospital for treatment. He would provide no further information about the case or about the victim’s medical condition.
