BLUE HILL – Sandra W. Marriner, 72, died May 26, 2010, surrounded by her family at her home. She was born May 26, 1938, in Blue Hill, the daughter of Walter L. and Hilda P. (Chapman) Woods. She graduated from George Stevens Academy and Eastern Maine General Hospital School of Nursing. Sandra worked as a certified rehabilitation registered nurse at New England Rehabilitation Hospital, Portland, and as the assistant director of nursing at Bangor State Hospital. She was a member of American Spinal Cord Injury Nurses Association. She enjoyed being a member of Embroiderers Guild of America, Smocking Arts Guild of America and also enjoyed photography. Sandra was a member of Blue Hill Red Hatters. She was a member of Elm Street Congregational Church, Bucksport, and past member of South Freeport Congregational Church. She is survived by her mother, Hilda Woods; a daughter, Candace M. Rowell and her husband, Timothy; a son, Christopher R. Marriner and his wife, Kymberly; grandchildren, Kyra Elen Marriner, Rebeccah Adair Marriner and Keagan Lawrence Rowell; and sister, Janice W. Prior-Crofoot. A memorial service will be held 1 p.m. Saturday, June 5, at Elm Street Congregational Church, Bucksport. Private interment will be at Seaside Cemetery, Blue Hill. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sandra W. Marriner Memorial Fund, Bar Harbor Bank and Trust, care of June Atherton, P.O. Box 804, Blue Hill, ME 04614. The purpose is to fund a permanent monument remembering Sandra at one of her favorite places.
