FARMINGDALE – Charles J. Plaisted, 86, of Riverview Street, died unexpectedly May 21, 2010, at MaineGeneral Hospital, Augusta. He was born Oct. 22, 1923, in Princeton, the son of William “Paul” Plaisted and Claire (Johnson) Plaisted. He made Princeton his home for most of his life. Charles was self-employed for many years in various businesses, including a car dealership, restaurant, snowsled, motorcycle and boat sales, and gravel hauling. For several years before retirement he worked as a heavy equipment operator at Georgia-Pacific paper mill, Baileyville. As a young man he held a pilot’s license and enjoyed flying into remote Maine lakes, trapping, hunting and fishing. Throughout his life he shared many of these activities with his family and friends. Charles was a member of the Masonic Lodge, Princeton, and Maine State Grange. Charles was predeceased by his brother, William Plaisted; and his daughter, Suzanne (Plaisted) Perkins. He is survived by his wife of almost 60 years, Barbara (McLellan) Plaisted; two sisters, Paula (Plaisted) Mooney of Bangor and Jean (Plaisted) Sprague of Ponte Vedra Beach, Fla.; one daughter, Sandra (Plaisted) Aceto of Portland; two sons, Paul Plaisted of Farmingdale and Eric Plaisted of Calais; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. A private memorial service and celebration of his life was held May 25 in Gardiner and Farmingdale.
