WINTER HARBOR – Harry C. Whittier, 81, died May 31, 2010, at a Rockport hospital after a long illness. He was born Feb. 24, 1929, in Brewer, the son of Levens and Ethel (Chipman) Whittier. Harry served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War and was a local lobster fisherman for many years. He is survived by his brother, Robert Whittier Sr. of Dover-Foxcroft; three sisters, Anna Shorey of Cumberland, Mary Freeman and Marcia Whittier, both of Bangor; a very special cousin, Leeman Chipman of Birch Harbor; many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one brother, Lewis; and two sisters, Sally Ann and Harriett. A Masonic service will be conducted by Winter Harbor Lodge, No. 192 AF & AM officers and members 1:45 p.m. Friday, June 4, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, with a service of remembrance 2 p.m. with the Rev.
