PORTAGE and CRYSTAL – Rose A. Leighton, 89, died May 31, 2010, in Patten. She was born May 8, 1921, in Lowell, the daughter of Oscar and Stella (Curtis) Engstrom. She was a loving daughter, sister, wife and mother. She knew all the lyrics to every song before 1970 and amazed everyone with her harmonica. Her sweet nature will be missed by everyone she came in contact with. She is survived by her two children, James and his wife, Wanda, of Orrington and Caroline and her husband, Mike Skinner, of Crystal; two grandsons, C.J. Leighton and his wife, Carolyn, and Ashley Skinner and his wife, Kim; four great-grandchildren, Brooke, Parker and Emily Skinner and Samantha Floyd; her brother, Delmont Engstrom; many much-loved nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her husband, James Sr.; her grandson, Brooks Skinner; and an infant son, Jamie. A celebration of the lives of Jim and Rose will be held later this summer.
