SEBRING, Fla., and LIMESTONE – Erwin R. “Bud” Somers, 80, passed away Saturday, June 5, 2010, at his residence in Sebring, Fla. Bud was born in Limestone and came to Sebring, Fla., in the early 1970s from Fort Lauderdale, Fla. He was the founder of Somers Irrigation, Inc. He, like his late wife, Donna Somers, were very found of 4-H, Ridge area ARC and very involved in Highlands County agricultural industry. They were very instrumental in building Good Shepard Facility, Sebring, Fla., being named in honor of and called the Bud and Donna Somers Hospice House and Resource Center, located on Highlands Hammock road. He is survived by a daughter, Rhonda Young and her husband, Larry, of Bangor; a son, James Somers and his wife, Anita Somers, of Lake Placid, Fla.; brother, Garth Somers; sisters, Silvia Green and Carrie Bea Washburn; two grandsons, Jimmy of Lake Placid, Fla., and Roman of Orlando, Fla. Family will receive friends 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, June 8, at Downden Funeral Home, Sebring, Fla., with services being held 7:30 p.m. with the Rev. Winifred White officiating. Interment will take place 2 p.m. Saturday, June 12, at Advent Cemetery, Limestone, with the Rev. Ellen Cleaves officiating.
