PRESQUE ISLE – Jessie Mae Nelson, 88, died Wednesday, June 9, 2010, at a Mars Hill health care facility. She was born Aug. 13, 1921, in Fort Kent, the daughter of George and Lillian (Thomas) Roberts. She worked as a messenger at Western Union, as a clerk at Robert’s Market and Hedrich’s Gunne Sax Shop, and a caregiver for her family. She is survived by her daughter, Bonnie Nelson; a granddaughter, Kelly and her husband, Eric Hemphill, all of Presque Isle; two grandsons, John Dow of Colorado Springs, Colo., and Douglas Dow of Manhatten, Kan.; two great-grandchildren, Erica and Alexander Hemphill; three nieces, Dolores Hutchins of Presque Isle, Jessica McClintock of San Francisco and Chance Deprey of Fort Fairfield; and two very special friends, Carolyn Bragg and Amy Bland. She was predeceased by four brothers, Llewellyn, Earl, Glen and Mike Roberts; and a sister, Verna Hedrich and her husband, Lawrence. Friends may call 1 p.m. Wednesday, June 16, at Church of Jesus, Chapman Street, Presque Isle, where funeral services will be conducted 2 p.m. Wednesday with Pastor Earl Durost officiating.
