HARTLAND – Peggy Violet Cully, 83, died peacefully June 12, 2010, at her home, after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born Sept. 3, 1926, in London, the daughter of Edward and Violet (Flack) Roy. She was educated in England and worked as a window dresser. She married Alver Cully, June 21, 1945, and together they raised their three children. Peggy was employed for many years at Irving Tannery, Hartland, and in later years managed the outlet store. She had been a past member of the Eastern Star, Rebekah’s and Fireman’s Auxiliary. She was a wonderful caregiver, putting others before herself. She had a wonderful sense of humor and a sharp mind. She loved to knit, read and do the daily crossword puzzle. She is survived by her three children, Micheal Cully and his wife, Marlene, of Quakake, Pa., Jennifer Metzger and her husband, Don, of Houlton and Wendy Harding and her husband, Stephen, of Alfred; her grandchildren, Loren, Mark, Christopher, Scott, Troy, Romi, Jason, Danny, Kim, Nate and Kristie; 10 great-grandchildren; her sister, Judy Weaver and her husband, Derek, of England and their children, Gail and Mark; two special sisters-in-law, Eva Baird and Elizabeth Cary; and two very dear friends, “Buddy” and Bonnie Smart of Hartland. She was predeceased by her husband of 58 years, Alver Cully, in 2003. Peggy’s family says a special thank-you to CancerCare of Maine and her physician, Dr. Audrey Merrill Garrett, for the wonderful care their mom received. They also express their gratefulness to HealthReach Hospice, Waterville. Their loving support was greatly appreciated. A graveside service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 10, at Pine Grove Cemetery, Route 152, Hartland, with the Rev. Marilyn Rohdin officiating.
