JONESBORO – Theodore W. Baker Jr., 77, died June 15, 2010, at his residence. He was born April 27, 1933, in Baileyville, the son of Theodore W. and Mildred (Blackmore) Baker Sr. Ted was a foster grandfather to more than 20 children who knew him as “Grampy.” He enjoyed cooking, hunting, fishing, reading, going for coffee, a good joke and especially loved spending time with family and friends. Ted was a proud U.S. Navy Veteran, retiring in the 1960s. He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Francena (Gove) Baker; four children, Robert E. Baker Sr. and his wife, Nadine, of Jonesboro, Tonja Alley and her husband, Albert, of Jonesboro, Daniel Baker and his wife, Lisa, of Orrington, and Michael Baker and his wife, Nicki, of Southport, Fla.; 11 grandchildren, Robert Baker Jr. and his wife, Morgan, Nicole Baker and her husband, Nate, Whitney, Billy, Dylan, Michael, Kyle, and Kristen Baker, Albert Jr. and Eileen Alley, and Austin Obert; four great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Callie, and Zachary Baker, and Hayden Kennedy; one sister-in-law, Margaret Carlisle; several niece, nephews and cousins; three special friends, Betty Dowling, and Bruce and Sheila Look. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Chester “Eddie” and Robert Carlisle; one sister, Fern Ellis; and a special canine companion, Max. A funeral service will be celebrated 2 p.m. Saturday, June 19, at Bragdon-Kelley Funeral Home, 220 Court St., Machias. Friends may call 1 p.m. until the time of service Saturday.
