Cliff Albert of Sinclair caught a 3.25 pound salmon on Long Lake, which was the largest salmoncaught by noon Saturday during the annual Sportsmen Inc. Fishing Derby. The largest salmon in the two-day event wins $100, as does the largest trout. Second prize in each category is $50. The derby, which was started in 1974, is scheduled to end at 7 p.m. Sunday. The group uses the money earned in the derby to maintain a public landing and a two-mile access road on Cross Lake. Only three fish had been weighed in by noon, including a 1-pound trout from Cross Lake and Albert’s salmon.
