DOVER-FOXCROFT, Maine — Residents approved all five articles Tuesday during a special town meeting referendum.
Approval was given to town officials to bond up to $300,000 for capital improvements for the wastewater treatment plant lagoon aeration system and collection system. The $300,000 will match a $708,000 USDA Rural Development grant for the $1,008,000 project. The vote was 266-129.
Residents also approved a new sewer ordinance that brings the rate structure more in line with the water district. That vote was 273-118.
The 1973 zoning ordinance was repealed in a 250-137 vote and replaced with a 2010 land use ordinance that is consistent with the town’s comprehensive plan.
In a vote of 249-131, residents amended the town’s subdivision ordinance, and they voted 262-127 to amend the comprehensive plan. The latter amendment reduces the requirement of the minimum lot size in the Rural Residential 2 Zone from 10 to 2 acres and reduces the minimum road frontage requirement from 400 feet to 200 feet.
