BANGOR – Natalie (Johnston) Bishop, 82, died June 30, 2010, surrounded by her loving family at a Bangor hospital. She was born Nov. 24, 1927, in Presque Isle, the daughter of Clyde and Christina (Nilson) Johnston. Natalie graduated from Presque Isle High School, Class of 1945, attended the University of Maine, Orono, and received her registered nursing degree from Newton-Wellesley Hospital, Massachusetts. After graduation, she worked in various hospitals, most recently St. Joseph Hospital, Bangor, retiring in 1987. Natalie was a 50-year member of Order of the Eastern Star, Lunar Chapter No. 126, Presque Isle. She spent her retirement doting on her grandchildren. Natalie is survived by her husband of 52 years, Neil Bishop of Bangor; two sons and their wives, John Bishop and Eugenia of Groton, Mass., and James Bishop and Julia of Bangor; and five grandchildren, Angelica, Gabriel and Julian of Groton, Mass., Joshua and Jenna of Bangor. Friends may call 6-8 p.m. Friday, July 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor. Funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Saturday, July 3, at St. John’s Episcopal Church, 225 French St., Bangor, with the Rev. Canon Mary Ann Taylor, pastoral associate, officiating. Private interment will be at Fairmount Cemetery, Presque Isle.
