BANGOR – George Noonan, 57, died July 3, 2010, surrounded by his loving family in Bangor, after a brief illness. He was born Feb. 11, 1953, in Calais, to Henry and Filene (French) Noonan. He grew up in Carmel and graduated from Hermon High School in 1971 and the food service program at Eastern Maine Vocational Technical Institute. He worked at Lounsbury’s and had a 30-year career at Howard Johnson’s as a cook/manager, where he made many friends. He is survived by three brothers and a sister and their spouses; Henry and Dawn Noonan, David and Joyce Noonan, John and Patti Noonan and Filene and Chuck Spencer; nieces and nephews, Jennifer Ellis, Roxanne Meader, Chad and Tyler Noonan, Wendy Lovejoy and Brad and Jamie Spencer; along with seven great-nephews and great-nieces. He also had many special cousins and friends. At George’s request, there will be a graveside committal for family and close friends 3 p.m. July 8 at Highland Cemetery, Carmel. Memorial donations may be made to Carmel Alumni Fund, Carmel Historical Society or make a donation in George’s name to your favorite charity.
