DEXTER – Ethelyn Mountain, 76, died July 7, 2010, surrounded by her family at home. “Essie,” as she was known by those closest to her, was born March 10, 1934, in Ripley, a daughter of Charles and Dorrine (Jones) Sevey. Essie attended schools in Ripley and Dexter. She worked for many years at Abbott Woolen Mill, Dexter, and Eastland Woolen Mill, Corinna. Essie was an avid bingo player and enjoyed cooking big meals for her family. She was predeceased by her parents; sisters, Shirley Philbrick, Mary Chabot, Seretha Sevey and Seretha’s unnamed infant twin brother; and Ethelyn’s twin sister, Evelyn Chapman. Ethelyn was also predeceased by another twin brother and sister, Charles and Charlene Sevey. Essie is survived by her loving and devoted husband of 57 years, Lane Mountain. They were married Aug. 23, 1952, at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, Dexter. She is also survived by three sons, Joseph and wife, Geoffrey, Jeffrey and wife, Cynthia, all of Dexter, and Jay of Yarmouth. She is lovingly remembered by her four grandchildren, Maria Mountain of Knoxville, Tenn., Jana Mountain of Bangor, Tracy Mountain of St. Albans and Ryan Mountain of Dexter; one sister, Virginia Huff of Dexter; several nieces and nephews, as well as several great-nieces and great-nephews. At her request there will be no visitation. A graveside funeral service will be held 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Dexter, with Pastor A. Maurice Neal officiating.
