INDIAN TOWNSHIP and PLEASANT POINT – Mary E. Alexander, 85, passed away Saturday, July 17, 2010, with her family by her side at Calais Regional Hospital. Mary was born Nov. 27, 1924, in Pleasant Point, daughter of the late John and Maria (Socobasin) Dana. After attending school in Pleasant Point, she relocated to Portland and Boothbay Harbor, where she worked as a cashier for various supermarkets for many years. After her retirement, Mary moved to Florida for four years until returning home to Indian Township. She was a communicant of St. Ann R.C. Church, Peter Dana Point, and enjoyed cooking, playing Beano and crocheting. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband, Harman Alexander; her adopted daughter, Lisa Alexander; and six siblings, Evelyn Hixon, Viola Homan, Ambrose Dana, Noel Dana, Eunice Sockabasin and Louis Dana. Surviving are two sisters, Rebecca Francis of Pleasant Point and Annabelle Bassett of Indian Township; a brother, Peter Dana of Pleasant Point; many nieces, nephews and friends. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 10 a.m. Saturday, July 24, at St. Ann R.C. Church, Pleasant Point, with Father James Plourde. Burial will be after at Tribal Cemetery, Pleasant Point.
