The university is following the lead of Lee Academy by recruiting students in South
Korea and China. Is this a worthwhile expenditure for the state system? What are the
benefits? Will Asian students crowd out Maine students? Or will their out-of-state tuition
rates help keep revenues strong? What are the chances that Asian students stay in Maine
after graduation and help create a well-educated work force which could help the state’s
economy?
