ELLSWORTH – God called home Michael A. Grosseibl unexpectedly July 19, 2010, in Ellsworth. He was born in Garfield, N.J., the son of Michael J. and Cira Grosseibl. He was raised in Garfield, N.J., and also lived in Wayne, N.J., and Clifton, N.J. After a long career with the U.S. Postal Service, Garfield, N.J., as a city letter carrier, Mike retired in 2000 and moved with his wife, Ellen, to Maine. Mike loved living in Maine. He was dubbed the “Fabulous Mr. Fix-it” of the neighborhood, and was always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed help with just about anything. Small engine repair was a favorite pastime of his for many years, and he spent countless hours tinkering away in his cottage-style shed. He loved feeding the birds, wildlife watching and tending to his landscaping. He enjoyed spending time at Acadia National Park with Ellen, especially by the ocean. He enjoyed his 10 years of retirement to the fullest. We wish it could have been longer, but it was not to be. Mike will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved him. Mike is survived by his loving wife of almost 11 years, Ellen, and they were part of each other’s lives for the past 25 years; devoted children: son, Glenn A. Grosseibl of Townsend, Del., and daughter, Michelle Streitmatter of Palm Harbor, Fla.; seven cherished grandchildren; and his precious Sarah, his beloved cat. He was predeceased by his parents. A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. Friday, July 23, at Jordan-Fernald, 113 Franklin St., Ellsworth. For those wishing to honor Mike’s memory, contributions to ARK Animal Shelter, P.O. Box 276, Cherryfield, ME 04622 or SPCA of Hancock County, 141 Bar Harbor Road, Trenton, ME 04605 would be greatly appreciated. Condolences maybe expressed at www.jordanfernald.com.
