CHESTER, Maine — A tree that fell onto an electrical line caused a power outage Monday for some residents on North Chester Road, Fire Chief Phil Dawson said Tuesday.

The incident near Whitney Farm was reported at about 4:45 p.m., he said. Firefighters stood by until a Bangor Hydro-Electric Co. crew could get to the scene and fix the arcing wire, he said.

Dawson did not know how many customers lost electricity or for how long, but said he believed the outage was localized.

High winds also downed a power line on Millet Mallet Road in Lincoln at about 2:55 p.m., Dawson said.

The Lincoln Fire Department is under contract to provide emergency services to the town of Chester.
