LEVANT – Charles W. Dwelley Sr., 58, died Thursday, July 29, 2010, at an Augusta hospital, after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born March 24, 1952, in Bangor, the son of Charles and Arlene (Gardner) Dwelley. Charles grew up in Bangor and after school he enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed a long career as a truck driver, and had many hobbies, including bingo, which he often helped organize. Some of his happiest memories were camping. Charles was a member of Brewer Eagles Club No. 3177, and Orono American Legion Honor Guard. He will always be remembered for his sense of humor and love of his “toys.” He is survived by his loving wife of 39 years, Sylvia (Conners) Dwelley; son, Charles W. Dwelley Jr. of Levant; daughter, Jennifer Lane and her husband, Josh, of Levant; Papa’s little girls, Kaarie “Pumpkin” Rae and Harleigh “Tutah” Jade; siblings, Betty Taylor and her husband, Michael, of Old Town, Harold Drinkwater and his wife, Ruby, of Beech Hill and Darlene Wright and her husband, Wes, of Hampden; sister-in-law, Patricia Conners of Levant; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, many nieces and nephews. Charles also leaves behind his beloved dogs, Millie and Minnie. The family gives a special thanks to our devoted friends, James and Linda Landers, Beverly Bradford, David and Violet Laasch, and Margaret Murray. The family will always be grateful for the wonderful care he received from all the nursing staff, especially the hospice staff at Togus Veterans Hospital. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 6-8 p.m. Monday, Aug. 2, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 3. Interment will be after at Mount Pleasant Catholic Cemetery, Ohio Street, Bangor. After services, relatives and friends are invited to share conversation and refreshments at the Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
