SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Ten-year-old James Petersen of Hermon and Tia Jackson (age 14) of Old Town competed in their respective events Thursday at the USATF National Junior Olympic Track & Field Championships.

Petersen placed second in his 200-meter heat with a time of 28.39 seconds. He qualified for the final to be held Saturday at 1 p.m.

Jackson competed in the final for the long jump and finished tied for 12th with a distance of 15 feet, 7.75 inches.
