JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – Raymond J. “Chip” Spencer, 51, passed away unexpectedly Saturday morning, July 31, 2010, as the result of an accident. He was born Sept. 20, 1958, in Lewiston. Chip attended schools in Bangor. He was a veteran of the U.S. Navy and had lived in Jacksonville, Fla., since 1980. He worked for many years as a registered nurse at Baptist Medical Center Downtown and most recently was working for Putnam County Medical Center. He was a longtime member of AA. Chip truly loved his children and grandchildren. He was a very caring, sensitive, reliable and funny man who always had a joke to share. Chip’s laugh will be greatly missed, as will his wonderful cooking and love of swimming and the water. Survivors include his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond J. Spencer Jr.; daughters, Bethany Spencer Geiger and spouse, Jay, and Jordan K. Spencer; a son, Raymond G. “Gabe” Spencer; the mother of his children and best friend, Robyn Bryan Spencer; mother-in-law and friend, Mary Jo “GiGi” Smith; sister, Bethany Austin and spouse, Dave; brother, Scott Spencer and spouse, Peggy; grandchildren, Kaylin, Ellie and Jase Geiger, and Blaiden Spencer; four nephews and many wonderful and loving friends. The family will receive friends for a visitation and viewing 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 4, at Corey-Kerlin Funeral Home, 940 Cesery Blvd., Jacksonville, Fla., where funeral services with military honors will be held 2 p.m. Thursday.
