DANVERS, Mass. – Clara G. (Gartley) Groves, 81, formerly of Brewer, passed away Friday, July 30, 2010, at her home. Clara was a longtime resident of Houlton and Brewer, only recently moving to Danvers, Mass., to be closer to her family. Clara was born, raised and educated in Houlton. She worked for many years for the phone company until her retirement from Nynex, Bangor, in 1989. Clara was predeceased by her husband, Robert P. Groves. She leaves her three children, David Groves and his wife, Lori, of Aurora, Colo., Ann Manson and her husband, Steve, of Andover, Mass., and Douglas Groves of Holden, Mass.; a sister, Jeanette Kennedy of Scottsdale, Ariz.; five grandchildren, Jaime Tierney, Tyler Groves, Catherine Groves, Gregory Manson and Elizabeth Manson; and two nieces, Nancy Marshall and Ronde Kennedy. Services will be private. Burial will be at a later date at Maine Veterans Cemetery, Augusta. For those who wish, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of choice.
