Music aficionados, beware: The sound effects in your favorite tunes could result in a visit from your local police department.
The Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department received a call about a weapons discharge at a Getchell Road camp on Chemo Pond in Clifton at 11:45 p.m. Thursday, only to discover that the source of the complaint was loud rap music.
Sgt. William Sheehan said that when he arrived on the scene it turned out the residents of the camp had been playing “some Eminem music” at a high volume. He attributed the report to sound effects used in the music.
No one was charged in the incident, however, Sheehan warned the group about the noise and stayed in the area to monitor the situation until he deemed it safe to leave. (Rob Stigile, BDN)

Three people, one of them a county deputy, suffered “non-incapacitating” injuries Friday morning when their vehicles collided at the intersection of Union Street and Griffin Road in Bangor.
Injured were Deputy James Kennedy of the Penobscot County Sheriff’s Department, Selden Wheeler of Corinth and Wheeler’s passenger, Angelina Doughty, Sgt. Jim Buckley said Friday.
The accident occurred about 8:50 a.m. as Kennedy, who was traveling west on Griffin Road, began making his way through the intersection with his Ford police cruiser’s lights and sirens running, according to the police report.
Wheeler, who was heading north in a Ford four-door sedan, was stopped at a red light. When the light turned green, Wheeler began making his way through the intersection, Buckley said. Wheeler reportedly did not see or hear the police car and struck it.
Damage to each vehicle was estimated at $3,000. (Dawn Gagnon, BDN)
