CODYVILLE PLANTATION, Maine — A local man died Tuesday night in a motorcycle accident on Route 6.
According to Trooper Kimberly Sawyer of the Maine State Police, the accident happened around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday. Shawn Burrill, 32, of Codyville Plantation was traveling east on Route 6 near the intersection of Old Codyville Road.
Burrill failed to negotiate a sharp curve in the road and was thrown from the 2009 Harley-Davidson motorcycle. He was not wearing a helmet and suffered head trauma in the accident, Sawyer said. Burrill died at the scene.
The accident remains under investigation, but Sawyer said that it appears speed may have been a factor.
