JONESPORT – Aaron K. Rockwell, 93, died Aug. 19, 2010, at a Machias health care facility. He was born April 3, 1917, in Columbia, son of Walter and Annie Elsmore (Kelley) Rockwell. Aaron was a U.S. Army veteran serving during World War II. He was a member of Maine State Guard, Indian River Grange No. 330, Lobsterman Association, and American Legion No. 108, Jonesport. He was a member of Community of Christ Church of Jonesport, where he served for more than 40 years as a deacon, and dedicated his ministries to youths, church camps and visiting members at their homes. Aaron was a lifelong outdoorsman, who loved just spending time in the Maine woods. He was a lifelong lobsterman and woodsmen, and was a volunteer on Jonesport Ambulance for many years as a driver and emergency medical technician. But most of all, Aaron loved his family. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Josephine (Emerson) Rockwell; four children, Frederick Rockwell and his companion, Debbie Benner, of Bingham, Rosalie Rockwell and her companion, Galen Huckins, of Harrington, Christine Presley and her husband, Carl, of Jonesport, and Lindon Rockwell and his companion, Brenda Blanchard; 14 grandchildren, many great-grand-children, great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by one grandson, Matthew McLaughlin; and two great-granddaughters, Bianca C. Riley and April Hatt.
