HAMPDEN – Brian M. Kelly, 68, passed away Aug. 18, 2010, at a Bangor hospital. He was born July 27, 1942, in Bangor, son of Richard D. Kelly Sr. and Mary (Ambrose) Kelly. Brian grew up in Bangor and was a 1960 graduate of John Bapst High School. He was employed by the city of Bangor for more than 45 years. Brian was a Bangor police officer for many years and later went to work for the pollution abatement program for the city. He had also worked as a part-time police officer with the town of Hampden. Brian enjoyed working on household projects, fishing, hunting, camping, refinishing his old canoe and restoring his Cox camper. He was a very patriotic person and a member of the National Rifle Association. Brian will be remembered as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend. Brian is survived by his beloved wife and friend of 41 years, Judith “Judy” (Damboise) Kelly of Hampden; his son, Jack D. Kelly and his wife, Tina, of Lexington, S.C.; two brothers, Richard D. Kelly Jr. and his wife, Nancy, of Augusta, and Robert W. Kelly of Brewer; one sister, Christine F. Kelly of Portland; two beloved grandchildren, Brayden and Ashlynn Kelly; nieces, nephews and cousins. Family and friends may visit 5-7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Hampden-Gilpatrick Funeral Home, 45 Western Ave., Hampden. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated 11 a.m. Monday, Aug. 23, at St. Paul the Apostle Parish, St. Matthews Catholic Church, 70 Western Ave., Hampden.
