BANGOR – Eleanor S. Grover, 85, died peacefully Aug. 18, 2010, at a local health care facility. She was the daughter of Dana A. and Frances M. Salisbury. Eleanor married Rexford R. Grover Jr., Jan. 8, 1946. They enjoyed 55 years together before his passing in 2001. During her lifetime, Eleanor held a variety of positions, including bookkeeping, banking and working in the office of Sen. Olympia Snowe, but no position was more important than a stay-at-home mom and life partner with Rex. As a young woman she played the trumpet in local bands. Later, she found great pleasure in writing, including one self-published novel. Eleanor was predeceased by her parents and her husband. She is survived by her daughter, Lynda Ryder and her husband, Bradley, of Bangor; grandson, Dan Ryder and his wife, Amy, and daughter, Avery, of Jay; granddaughter, Dana Ryder and her fiance, Michael Clark, of Portland; and special friends, Ralph and D’Arcy Libby of Bangor. Relatives and friends are welcome to call 1-2 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 22, at Brookings-Smith, 133 Center St., Bangor, where a memorial service will begin 2 p.m. with the Rev. Dr. Mark Allen Doty, senior pastor of Hammond Street Congregational Church, UCC, officiating. The family invites relatives and friends to share conversation and refreshments after the service at Family Reception Center of Brookings-Smith, 163 Center St., Bangor.
