BIRCH HARBOR – Maynard K. Chipman Sr., 77, died unexpectedly Friday, Aug. 20, 2010, surrounded by his family at Maine Coast Memorial Hospital. He was born Feb. 2, 1933, in Milbridge, son the of late Edgar E. and Minnie (Beal) Chipman. Maynard was a member of Winter Harbor Masonic Lodge and Anah Temple Shriners, where he helped start the lobster boat unit. Maynard loved every minute of his life, his passion was his love for the ocean, where you could always find him either working on it or just sitting at home looking out over it. Maynard was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and ice fishing. He also loved traveling every year to many beautiful places with his wife, Annabelle. You could always find Maynard at Christmas time decorating his Birch Harbor home inside and out with an amazing assortment of Christmas decorations for all to enjoy. Maynard was an amazing husband, father, grandfather, brother, uncle and friend and will be greatly missed by all. He will be greatly missed by his furry companion, Tigger, who never left his side. Maynard is survived by his loving wife of 59 years, Annabelle (Jacobs) Chipman; his daughter, Nancy of Birch Harbor; son, Maynard Jr. of Southport, N.C.; son, Roger and wife, Luanne, of Birch Harbor; his two special granddaughters, Melissa and her companion, Dan, of Prospect Harbor and Monica and her companion, Warren, of Trenton; one very special great-grandson, Tyler Maynard; his brother, Avery and wife, Estelle, Leamon, George and wife, Becky, Herb and Bert and wife, Betty; sister-in-law, Alice; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Maynard was predeceased by his father, Edgar; mother, Minnie; brothers, Roger and Vinton; sister, Mildred; and sister-in-law, Kay. Visiting hours will be held 6-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 25, at Bradgon-Kelley Funeral Home, Milbridge, where a memorial service will be held 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 26. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made in Maynard’s name to the Shriner’s Hospital.
