NORTHEAST HARBOR and ARLINGTON, Va. – Katherine S. Roberts died Sept. 1, 2010, in Northeast Harbor, of ovarian cancer. She was born March 1, 1952, in Santa Monica, Calif., the daughter of David Marx and Anne Louise (Bigelow) Sherwood. Katherine received her Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California at Berkley and her certificate in Landscape Architecture from George Washington University, Washington, D.C. She is survived by her husband, Jared I. Roberts; her daughter, Eleanor S. Roberts; her son, Bayard B. Roberts, all of Arlington, Va.; her mother and stepfather, Kenneth Boettcher, of Laguna Beach, Calif.; two brothers, David E. Sherwood and wife, Kathy, of Boulder, Colo., and Michael W. Sherwood of San Jose, Calif.; a stepsister, Carol Boettcher of Irvine, Calif.; nine nieces and nephews. A celebration of Katherine’s life will be held 4 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at St. Mary’s-By-The-Sea, Shore Road, Northeast Harbor, with the Rev. Ann Kidder presiding. Private interment will be at Forest Hill Cemetery, Northeast Harbor. A memorial service will be held later this fall at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Arlington, Va.
