BREWER – Evelyn L. DeRoche, 91, passed away Sept. 1, 2010, at home after a brief illness. She was born Aug. 31, 1919, in Medford, Mass., daughter of the late George H. Bond and Gertrude (Jacobs) Bond Perry. Evelyn grew up in Bangor and attended Bangor schools. She enjoyed her many years working as a sales clerk at Freese’s, United Store and W.T. Grants. Evelyn was a member of Calvary Baptist Church, Brewer, for more than 40 years. She was active in several Bible study groups throughout the years, making many friends as she learned more about her Savior. In addition to her parents, Evelyn was predeceased by her husband of 44 years, Calvin DeRoche; her brothers, Russell Bond and George Bond; a sister, Estelle (Bond) Portz; and a nephew, Russell Bond Jr. She is survived by her sister, Virginia M. Sheehan of Bangor; several nieces, nephews, great-nephews and great-great-nephews. Evelyn will be fondly remembered by her dear friends at the Ellen Leach Home. Her family thanks New Hope Hospice, N.E. Home Health and her neighbor, Jeanette Perry, for their loving care. A service honoring Evelyn’s life will be held 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 7, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where family and friends may visit 12:30 p.m. until the service begins.
