BANGOR – Margaret L. McCarthy, 93, wife of the late John P. McCarthy, died Sept. 12, 2010, at a Bangor health care center. She was born July 6, 1917, in Vanceboro, daughter of William and Mary (MacDonald) Trott. Margaret worked as a baker for Railroad Station Restaurant, Vanceboro, where she was known for her fudge and her specialty baked goods. She also worked for New Franklin Laundry, Bangor, for many years. Margaret was a member of Vanceboro Historical Society and communicant of St. John’s Catholic Church, Bangor. Surviving are a special nephew, William Kaine and his wife, Linda, of Orrington; special great-niece and great-nephew, Lisa Kaine of North Carolina and Jeffrey Kaine of Bangor; a niece, Suzanne Sangster of Macadam, New Brunswick; several nieces and nephews; and stepchildren, Julia McCarron, John McCarthy Jr. of New Hampshire and Irene Daly of Utah. Margaret will be sadly missed by her dear friends, Charlotte Hanscom and Evelyn Goodrich. She was predeceased by a sister, Ethel Crandlemire and Susan Conrad. A service honoring and celebrating her life will be held noon Wednesday, Sept. 15, at Kiley & Foley Funeral Service, 69 State St., Brewer, where family and friends may visit 10 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be at Mount Pleasant Cemetery, Bangor. A time of continued celebration will be held after the service at Westgate Manor.
